What I Wore Wednesday #2

WOW! I cannot believe it is the last day of June already! Time sure does fly! And I haven't really gotten any sun-shinny, summer weather here all month! How depressing.

Well this is what I wore on:

Thursday, June 24th

Top: Forever 21 V-neck t-shirt
Jacket: Forever 21
Jeans: Forever 21
Belt: Banana Republic Outlet
Shoes: Nine West Outlet (I scored these for $15 and its a snake skin print!)
Scarf: Forever 21
Necklace: Hibiscus flower charm necklace from my mom for my 8th grade graduation
Earrings: Diamond earrings from my mom for my 18th birthday

WOW, this whole outfit is almost from Forever 21! I think after a while, you might think the only clothing store I shop at is Forever 21. I'll admit I have a lot from there which probably is not a good thing since their stuff do wear down rather quickly.

Friday, June 25th
Most days, I really hate these jeans because of the whisker (the white-ish looking lines) I don't mind so much near the pockets, but the thighs?! Are they suppose to be "slimming" looking? I feel like they emphasize my things more. The more I wash it, the more it shows. I am thinking about dying my jeans! Does that work? Has anyone tried that before? Please let me know if you have.

Top: Forever 21 Sweater (this sweater stretches out like CRAZY, but I love it since it is so warm and soft no matter how many times I washed it)
Tanktop: Gray with white stripes Rule 21
Jeans: Pacsun
Headband: H&M
Necklace: Hibiscus flower charm necklace from my mom

As a child, my mom always reminded me to use lotion since my hands were "dry." They felt normal to me. I didn't feel any "dryness" that my mom felt. Today, I lather myself with lotion each morning (with spf 15), after every shower, and lotion on my face and hands before I sleep. I know I probably sound crazy, but I am afraid of wrinkles! I want to look young! Every once in a while, I use some anti-eye wrinkle cream around my eyes. (Go ahead, call me crazy. I don't mind. I'll admit it is a little extreme...hehe)

Saturday, June 26th: My Birthday!

Bunny and I went to Suzu in Japantown for my birthday dinner. I say it is the BEST udon/noodle house throughout Japantown! It is located downstairs. I thought it'd be fun to be a tourist in my own city. Bunny said I needed to smile because I look so serious! Whoops!

Top: TJMaxx
Leggings: Forever 21
Shoes: Madden Girl via TJMaxx
Purse: Coach Outlet $?

Do you think this top/tunic will look better with jeans? Looking at it now, you see a lot of leggings. Is that okay?

Sunday, June 27th
I stayed home all day and studied. The weather was extremely nice compared the the days before. In the morning, it was practically sprinkling. Oh, how I love you San Francisco.

Top: SFM 2009 t-shirt $Free
Shorts: Limited Too (from 6 years ago) $Free by using my report card to get $5 off anything!
Slippers: Cute duck slippers via some Asian store on Celement Street $? (it was buy 1 get one free that I split with a friend 4 years ago)
Necklace: Hibiscus flower charm necklace from my mom
Earrings: Diamond earrings from my mom
*no picture today

Monday, June 28th

I used Picnik to edit this photo with the help from Cheri, I Am Momma - Hear Me Roar!

Top: Forever 21
Dress: Forever 21 $9.90 (100% silk and on clearance!)
Shoes: American Eagle Outfitters Flats
Watch: Bulova
Bracelets: H&M

Tuesday, June 29th

I was super tired on yesterday, but I had to finish my bag of Sun Chips before I took a nap. It was that DELICIOUS! Yum.

Top: H&M $2.50 (it was apart of a buy-1-get-1-free clearance!)

Sweater: Talbots
Jeans: Express
Ring: Vintage from my mom
Necklace: Tiffany Co. Initial J necklace from my mom for my 16th birthday
Earrings: Diamond earrings from my mom
Shoes: American Eagle Outfitters Flats
Bobby Pin: Created by me when I was 12? 13? Well, all I know is that it was made back when I didn't care for hair accessories. I wish I made more! It is extremely easy. Just grab a bobby pin, tiny beads, and some fishing line and you're good to go! Maybe I'll make a tutorial for this after I finish summer school if you like.

I'm just saying...

So today I decided to start a "I'm just saying..." on my side bar, like how Disney from Ruffles and Stuff did. I will update it whenever I feel like saying something small that doesn't require a post of its own.

Growing up, my mom taught me to use coupons (via newspaper, magazines, internet, etc) and shop in the clearance and sale racks before I hit the regular priced items. When my mom grew up, she didn't have much money to spend. So she taught me how to save even while I made my purchases for things I want, I mean needed. Today, whenever I go shopping, I always check to see if there are coupons to help me save a little more cha-ching, cha-ching. I mean who doesn't like the sound of that?

So today, is the kick-off: I'm just saying hair conditioner works just as well as shaving cream.

I have a huge lack of crafting posts. Why? I've been taking two summer courses from the past month. I only have to bare two more weeks. So please bare with me through this rough journey. I will be whipping up some stuff just as soon as finals are finished. I can't wait!

Happy Sunday!

What I Wore Wednesday #1

I actually wanted to start What I Wore Wednesdays after I finished my summer session, but I couldn't wait!

Such a weird pose - I know. Don't laugh. I was using a self timer and maybe 7 seconds isn't slow enough after all or maybe it is me. I don't know how people are so natural in front of the camera. Maybe I should be in front of the camera more often. Practice makes perfect!

Ruffle Top: Love on a Hanger - Nordstrom Rack
Cardigan: H&M
Belt: Macy's (found in the boy section for $2)
Jeans: Forever 21
Socks: Hot Sox

*I got these when Forever 21 first started their $12.50 jeans. I thought it was a great deal so I decided to get another pair but in a different shade, but they ended up stretching out really fast. Needless to say, I never wore them again. It just sits in my closet with the other jeans I don't really wear. What a waste of money!

What to do when you do not want to study...

...but definitely should? You indulge yourself in this:

then you study. Does that sound like a good deal? Yes. Hmmmm-mmmm

Rambling Monday

I started my first day of summer school today. So given that, I start a new notebook, but I hate wasting notebooks. I define wasting as not finishing up at least 90% of the notebook. I also hate it when the corner of the pages near the spiral break or spin out. So I took matters into my own hands when I didn't feel like reading/studying.

This is what I mean when I say "the pages near the spiral break or spin out."

You might not be able to tell, but I only used about half of this notebook.

To fix this, you will need:
  • notebook
  • pliers
I wish I took pictures of the process. I didn't think I'd blog today, but I am here blogging away since I do not want to study. Boy, I am going to regret this later.

This is the results.
Top Back:
hmm, does anyone know why this picture flipped sideways?

Front Bottom:

I hope these instructions make sense. If it doesn't, feel free to ask for clarification. I can always redo the process with another notebook.
  1. Use your pliers to try to semi-straighten out the end of the metal spiral (I do not suggest doing this for plastic spiral notebooks). It doesn't have to be perfectly straight.
  2. Bend the metal toward the previous circle spiral
  3. Make the spiral hook around the spiral before/after it.
  4. Done! A notebook that will not spin out of control.

So over the weekend, I was craving this bar of chocolate.

This is what happened to it when I left it in the car for 1-2 hours on a cold, foggy, and semi-windy day in San Francisco.

hmm, does anyone know why this picture flipped sideways?

Also check out blah to Tada!, Claire's blog. She knows what to do with dryer lint. Yes, the fuzzy stuff you throw away from the dryer. She also made some cool covers for "blah" boxes.

Happy Blogging! This month is going to be a sluggishy blogging month for me. One month of intease, kick-ass summer course. I am going to go study now. I think...I hope - okay I will!

Anthropologie Bow Top

I really like this top from Anthropology! But it is totally out of my budget! Maybe I can make something similar to it! Oooh! I am definitely going to try...after I finish my summer session that begins on Monday. Boo!

Thank you all so much for your comments for my t-shirt in my previous blog! I am really excited about being apart of this blogging world!

I was doing a little Spring Cleaning today. I found a pile of my middle school folders that had some writing on the front. I couldn't bring myself to throw them out since they were still in good condition. So I decided to cover up the words and give them to my little cousin who is entering Kindergarten next Fall.

What do you think? I don't know what else to add. I haven't glued anything down on the blue folder yet. I feel that they're both super empty. I also want to laminate these folders with this see through sticky paper. That way if it gets wet, she can easily wipe it off without damaging the folder. Does anyone know what it is called? Your comments and ideas are greatly appreciated.

I also decided to revamp the tissue box my mom uses to keep scratch paper and pens next to the phone. I know it isn't much, but it is a little more decorated.

To make the flower, I drew one petal and then folded a sheet of paper 4 times so I wouldn't have to cut each petal one by one.

I originally thought this project would turn our move lively, but I guess not. Better luck next time!

I also came across this very neat Paper Flower Tutorial by Wendy. You definitely need to check it out. It is such a cute way to decorated little branches you can find during your walk in the park.

Lindsey's Circle Flower Tee

This is my second try on refashioning a t-shirt. The first one? lets just say that one turned out as a disaster 5 months back.

I was browsing through blogs last week and I came across The Pleated Poppy. Lindsey created this very cute looking tee. It looked like something I could do, so I gave it a shot. I have amateur like sewing skills. So this probably took a little longer than your average seamstress. I am getting better. I want to get better! And reading blogs is such a motivation. I want to be able to create and craft beautiful clothing and accessories that look easy enough for me to make at home instead of shelling out cash. But this doesn't mean I am going to stop shopping, it just means that I am going to start stretching my dollars further and create one of a kind things for myself/family/friends.

This is how my Circle Flower Tee turned out:

I had to trim the tee since it was a little on the wide side. I picked it up at Walmart for $4! It is a Flade & Glory tee and it is made 100% organic cotton!

Forever 21 tank

pinned circles into position

My carpet looks so nasty! I swear it doesn't look like this in person. It is clean! Clean lookin' too!

Close up

I just realized that this is such an awkward pose. Next time. I am too lazy to put it back on. I think with all the trying on I had to do yesterday and today, I stretched it out.

Should I add more flowers so it leads down, down toward the left? What do you think?

Tee: Walmart $4
Tank: Forever 21 $Free since I usually never wear it (usually $2.50)

Please take a look at Lindsey's blog. She has so many great ideas! Here is the link to the tutorial.
